What I need from my parents

As for me the most that I need from my parents is attention and support. I need a lot of attention so that I know Im not alone in the family. Since I’m the only girl sometimes I feel like I don’t get the enough attention especially from my mom because she has to pay attention my other brothers.

I also need a lot of more support from my parents to know that no matter what I do they are always cheering me on because sometimes without support it leads to big let downs. I need these to be able to do what I love doing and knowing that my parents are here to support me and are proud of what I do rather than not caring about anything at all.

learning about my culture♥

1. What do I want to learn more about my culture?

One thing I am very interested to learning about my culture are the superstitions. According to my research, Philippines has a lot of superstitions and some actually believes in it and even some says the superstitions have happened to them. I want to be able to go back and find out where these superstitions came from and who started it, also if it’s possible, find out if there’s anyone who had experienced any of it. I think that would be really cool.

Another thing I want to learn about Philippine culture is the Philippine society. There are things such as family, respect, community, wealth and beauty, death customs in the Philippines, and communication. I would like to find out every pieces of in formations about these subjects just to see how everything started off. Such as respect, in my country, respect is very important and I think it would be cool to find out the other things that people use to do to show respect in the past that we kids in this generation don’t do anymore.

The last main thing I am interested in learning about for my culture are their celebrations. They have celebrations such as national holidays, birthdays, and even native holidays. I think it’s good to go back in the past and find out information about how people celebrated these types of holidays or special events now that lately a lot of things have changed from the past. People probably didn’t use to celebrate one’s birthday as much as we do now in this century.

I think that it would be really nice to find out the things that stand behind these questions and facts. I want to know a lot of things from my background just to be familiar with it and sometimes if i have kids, I can be able to share these things and make sure they are familiar to it.

FUN FACT: In the
Philippines, compared to the buses here in
America, they use Jeepneys as public transportation. Sometimes when the jeepney gets filled people and some aren’t able to fit in the seats, they go in the back of the jeep and hold on to the bar where the opening is to go inside the ride. People are risking from getting hurt just to be able to get a ride

Culture of Philippines

Uncategorized April 9th, 2008

The three aspects of my Filipino culture that i would put for a time capsule are; food, a book of my language, and clothes.

I would pick food because a lot of people from around the world are usually familiar with our types of cooking, but also most of the time we get compliments that our type of foods are very tasty and good. Most of my friends love our famous dish called “Adobo”. Its a type of chicken and pork dish, it can be either one.

Another one i picked is probably a book with examples of our languages. I think it’d be really cool for the people that will get these stuff that probably has no idea about languages that we speak. Also it’d be nice to share it to them to give them idea of how we talked in my country. And to some people it would be really nice to know that our language also has mixed spanish words in it so some can be familiar to it too.

The third thing i chose for a time capsule is a clothes. I love clothes and i think a lot of people should do too because it can really express yourself a lot by it even without words. In my country we have this traditional type of apparrel where most of the time it is worn only for weddings, feast, or any other special occasions. We call it “Barong Tagalog”. It is made of jusi clothes. It’s kind of itchy most of the time but a lot of old people likes it :D
